There are many ways in which homeowners can increase the value of their home. For instance, improving your home with a laminate floor not only looks better, but it will give you more market value. There are many benefits that come with this type of flooring. Of course, it’s good to look at all the different kinds before you commit to one.

For starters, it should be understood that it can be laid and is recommended to be laid in a basement. It gives you a high quality look without the high price. So, regardless of what your basement looks like right now, you’ll see an instant improvement. Plus, you can install it easily yourself.

Today, they come with interlocking mechanisms. That means that there is no glue required in the installation. So, it makes it real quick and easy. And, the best part is that it can be installed on top of some floors of all kinds, including concrete. The only prerequisite is that the subfloor is flat and solid.

Even repairs can be easily tended to without any need for special tools. So, no handyman is required, nor is there a need for expensive materials. Whether it’s for repair or to lay down this new floor, no experience is necessary and any do-it-yourselfer can do it. In fact, an entire room can be completed in a single afternoon.

Once it is installed, you’ll see an instantaneous warmth within the room, much like you would get with hardwood flooring. Except, there is no extreme cost involved. Plus, you get to choose from various grains as well as colors. So, you can end up adding a little personal touch through color. And you’ll rest easy knowing that your floor is strong and tough, able to withstand the damage that can come through active pets and children.

But before purchasing any one kind, there has to be special consideration paid for various things. For instance, how much traffic will the area be subjected to. This is very important. And, choosing correctly will save you money as well as time, down the line. If it is a heavy traffic area or room, then a more durable product would be required.

The benefits that come with these floors are obvious: they are inexpensive, easy to install, easy to care for, easy to repair, they are durable and long-lasting, surface won’t fade with exposure to sunlight, they don’t contain any harmful materials, to name but a few.

If you still want even more information about laminate floors, Inez suggests taking a look at these Laminate Floor Facts as well.

Of course you want the best available bedding for your baby, which is why you’re looking at luxury baby bedding. However, as luxury is largely subjective, and your baby can’t really tell you if they like their bedding, there are some different things that should be considered than when buying your own luxury bedding. How the bedding feels to your hands, and its stated quality should make up only a portion of the equation.

Sneezing?

Allergies can be a sneaky problem when it comes to kids, especially babies. The effects can be extremely dangerous and, the worst part is, you can’t know that baby is affected by them until there’s a problem. After installing new luxury bed linens, be sure to watch very carefully for anything from breathing problems to a minor rash. One possible solution is to try to get something made from the same company or made with the same materials as your own luxury bedding, assuming baby hasn’t had a reaction to that. Unfortunately, this is not an exact science since you can never tell all of the materials in a luxury bed linen, and the same manufacturer might use different dye from one set to another. Just be sure to watch very closely for any sort of reaction as luxury baby bedding is bound to contain materials that your baby has never encountered.

Cost

Right up front you’ll notice that luxury baby bedding isn’t, on average, as expensive as your typical adult luxury bedding sets. There’s two possible reasons for that. For one thing, luxury baby bedding doesn’t require as much material, being altogether smaller. Also, it’s common knowledge that parents spend more money on themselves than their children when buying similar products, so manufacturers of luxury bedding ensembles know that they’re far more likely to make more money on your luxury bed sheets than your baby’s. Discount luxury bedding may not be all it seems, though, so staying with known name brands is a good idea. Since the buyer is obviously not going to be the user of the product, some less scrupulous companies make products like luxury baby bedding to much lower standards.

Making It Match

If everything just has to match, it might be a good idea to buy the harder to match items, such as luxury baby bedding, before painting the walls and choosing the flooring. It’s much easier to match wall paint or wallpaper, for example, to luxury baby bedding than the other way around. If you’ve already decorated the room, or you just are dead set on a specific color, try hunting for luxury bed linens online.

Irritated Baby

Even babies have quirks, and there are going to be certain textures and materials that irritate them. What might feel like luxurious bedding to your hands could very well feel like sandpaper to your baby. If baby cries as soon as he’s put into his crib, you might want to consider swapping the bedding out. Although you may not necessarily agree, your baby may be just fine with cheap bedding. After all, having luxury baby bedding is pretty pointless if it makes your baby miserable.

After deciding you wanted a wooden look, and coming to the conclusion that wood laminate flooring is your best option, you’d assume that the hardest part is over, right? Not necessarily. The hardest part of choosing your laminate floors could very likely be choosing the brand. The brand will determine how hard it is to install, how much it costs, how durable it ends up being, not to mention how it looks. If you’re not purchasing from a hardware store that has all of their laminate floor options laid out in front of you, you could probably use some help deciding on a brand. Let’s examine Swiftlock Laminate Flooring to see if it’s likely to be right for you.

Various Options

You’re probably got a pretty decent idea of what you want your home’s laminate wood floors to look like upon completion, so your first step should be finding a brand who makes it. It’s a good bet that Swiftlock Laminate Flooring at least has something very similar to whatever it is you’re looking for. They have more than 160 laminated flooring varieties listed on their site right this very moment. They don’t split them all into various collections like Quick Step Laminate Flooring, but they do list the thickness right by the name of the selection, and that’s probably even better. Since most people know nothing about what’s hot and what’s not when it comes to a laminate floor, I’d suggest taking the time to check a few different websites so that you can get a good idea of what features you want.

Cost

When shopping for Swiftlock Laminate Flooring, you’ll notice that the words affordable and durable pop up quite often. I was surprised to find that Amazon apparently does not sell Swiftlock, so I had to go elsewhere for my price comparing. Armstrong makes Swiftlock Laminate Flooring, and has positioned it to be their cheap laminate flooring. In fact, with most laminated floors resellers, Swiftlock is their cheapest offering.

Installation

If you’re new at home improvement, and you need flooring, laminate is a pretty good place to start. Not only is it lighter than solid and engineered, it will generally last at least as long, sometimes longer. Installing laminate flooring is quite likely going to be, while time consuming, one of the easier projects you’re going to tackle as a homeowner. Swiftlock’s website makes laminate flooring installation much easier by having great install directions right on their site. Since it’s one of the best known brands out there, any oddities will probably already be addressed by the internet community.

Durability

The last thing you want to worry about after you get the wood laminate floor installed is durability. Swiftlock Laminate Flooring can generally handle at least a normal amount of traffic. However, there are some distressing reports of warping without standing water, and chips and dents from sharp or heavy objects impacting the floor. If your laminated floor does sustain damage, you’ll likely have to swap boards since it’s impossible to buff. There do seem to be quite a few complaints around the web pointed at Swiftlock Laminate Flooring, but that also comes from being popular. Obviously the more products one sells, the more complaints there will be, even if, by ratio, they are the best thing going.

Considering buying engineered wooden flooring for your home? If not, you definitely should. Engineered wooden flooring is a little bit of everything: durable, attractive, and inexpensive. Check out the competing products before you buy engineered wood floors, or any flooring, though. Those competitors would be laminate wooden flooring, and solid wooden floors.

Comparing Looks

Direct comparisons between solid wood floors and engineered wooden flooring don’t always make sense. After all, the part of engineered wood flooring that you step on is solid wood. Engineered often looks a lot more realistic than laminate, mainly because it is. From the same outlet, and sometimes the same manufacturer, you can often purchase a laminate wood floor which is very obviously fake, and one that actually looks better than either a real or an engineered wood floor, although it still won’t actually be real, but merely a picture. Between solid and engineered wooden flooring, though, it’s tough to say that one looks better than the other, until they begin to show wear.

Engineered Wooden Flooring Sounds More Solid Than Laminate

Don’t discount the importance of sound when choosing wooden flooring. For the most part, the floor doesn’t get a lot of attention except as something to step on, but when it makes a disturbing noise, the attention it receives is not really wanted. Although most people don’t even think about it, the easiest way to tell the difference between the three is often by sound. The hollow clunk that is characteristic of laminate wooden floors is a dead giveaway. Many laminate manufacturers swear up and down that this is no longer an issue. A solid wooden floor, though, is quite solid and silent. Well, that is, until it begins to creak. Although professionals do have ways to minimize it, pretty all solid wood floors will face a creak or two, or maybe more, which is an issue that laminate mostly can’t develop. Engineered wooden floors could possibly creak, and might have a slightly hollow sound, but nether will be nearly as pronounced. Creaking in engineered flooring is somewhat rare, but possible. I guess, when comparing engineered wooden flooring to solid wooden floors, you just have to decide if which possibility bothers you most, or which brand you trust to not have these issues.

Engineered Wooden Flooring Is Durable

With the exception of concrete, a solid wooden floor is about as durable as it gets. Even when damaged, it can generally be refinished. Yes, it is that simple, although it’s not hard for it to get pretty scratched up before you get around to it. You can also buff and refinish engineered wooden flooring, but not very many times. Depending on the brand and type, you may be able to sand it a few times, but that top layer is generally thin enough that it’s very limited. As such, like laminate, deep damage can quickly force you to replace boards to keep a quality look. Laminate, being nothing more than a resin covered picture, can’t be refinished.

Price

Pricing of engineered wooden flooring is hard to gauge with any kind of certainty since, as with solid wooden floors, there often seems to be no rhyme or reason to price fluctuations. Being a very natural product, the price will move around a lot depending on availability of certain types of lumber. Because it takes more of this natural product, you’ll notice that solid wooden floors often fluctuate more than engineered, although laminate typically is affected only by demand. All things considered, engineered wooden flooring typically costs a bit more than laminate, but a lot less than most solid wood floors.

There’s lots of hard to find beddings out there that seem to only be available from suppliers of luxury bedding. If you look hard enough, though, they can be found. The Internet is a great supplier of such bedding as even the oddballs are easy to pack and ship, so shipping costs are usually reasonable.

The Kings And Queens Of Luxury Bedding

California Queen sheets are one example. This luxury bedding is larger than regular queen sized bedding by four inches while maintaining the normal width of a queen sized mattress. Those who are tall will really appreciate having a bed that fits their body type, and the luxury bedding to cover it. California King, also known as Western King beds, are twelve inches longer than a Queen size, which makes them another good option for tall adults. There is luxury bedding available for this size as well.

Luxury Bedding For Tall People Mattresses

Some unusually tall people don’t want a lot of width, or simply don’t have the room for something the size of a Queen. These people may want to opt for an extra long twin bed. Often found in college dorms, these are five inches longer than your standard twin. Consumer magazines often complain about the limited number of patterns, and the difficulty in finding bedding for this type of bed. Many luxury bedding manufacturers are beginning to see the popularity of this type of bed, though, and are beginning to produce more and more options.

Luxury Bedding For The Olympic Queen

Another unusual size of bed is the Olympic queen. An Olympic queen is good for if you own a traditional queen size, want a larger mattress, but don’t have room for a king size bed. Or maybe you just don’t want to spend the money on new bedroom furniture. The Olympic queen is a full six inches wider than a normal queen sized bed, yet fits on a standard queen frame. Its biggest downfall is lack of luxury bedding available. This is becoming less and less though as suppliers are seeing that this innovative bed is becoming very popular.

Luxury Bedding For The Shallow Type Mattress

All mattresses were not created the same. Some are just plain older, but still have a lot of life left in them. After all, it’s the bedding that takes the majority of the beating from any elements, so that’s what you’ll be replacing on a little used but faded bed. The standard bed sheet of today, which is at least seventeen inches deep, will completely engulf an older nine to twelve inch deep mattresses. Some Tempurpedic, memory foam, and platform mattresses are still that size as well. To address this, suppliers are providing eleven inch gusset sheets. This way, no matter what the condition, there will be luxury bedding out there to choose from.

Though laminate flooring is really durable, it,like most other things we have, should be maintained. Even if you are single and your particular laminate floors do not see the traffic of your neighbor’s with the five kids running around all day, there will be times when they will require attention. Try reading through the following tips for ideas about how to care for your laminated flooring before you purchase that high priced laminate floor cleaner, you may not really need it!

Most Of The Time, You Only Need To Sweep

A lot of people make the mistaking of believing that linoleum kitchen floors and laminated floors are alike. Cleaners make the linoleum shine, however that is not the case with laminate flooring. Many times one needs only to take a broom or dust mop and clean away all the dirt and dust from the surface of the laminate floor to have it looking like new. Some may choose to use a vacuum instead for the speed factor. If choosing this rout, be careful to use a vacuum without a beater bar, the mechanism used to pound the dirt and debris from the carpets. If possible, use a model of vacuum that has an option for hard floors.

A Little Warm Water Sometimes Does The Trick

Even if you do find yourself with a stain or something stuck to your lovely flooring, laminate floor cleaner may not be necessary. First, try cleaning it with a warm wet cloth (using water only) and scrubbing it a little. Remember, laminate floors are designed for the traffic and the cleaning they receive. Meant for deflecting stains, the upper layer of the laminated flooring should keep things from sticking to it. Most times, the flooring just needs your help.

When To Use The Laminate Floor Cleaner

If warm water, a rag, and some elbow grease just won’t do the trick, it may be time to pick up some laminate floor cleaner. This can get confusing and expensive, though. It’s important to only use the laminate floor cleaner that the manufacturer of your flooring recommends. This is because every manufacturer makes that top coating a little differently, meaning different chemicals are likely to react in unexpected ways. You could very easily end up with dulled and damaged laminate flooring if you just buy whatever cheap laminate flooring cleaner you happen to find.

Do Not Soak Laminate Floors

Soaking dishes to remove tough stains is a great idea. However, soaking your laminated floor can be disastrous. Be it just water, or any type of laminate floor cleaner, never leave standing water for any length of time. Laminated floors are notorious for warping due to exposure to too much water. If you think it might be too much water or cleaner, it is. Use only as much laminate floor cleaner or water as you absolutely need. After all, it’s much easier to add a bit more cleaner or water then it is to swap laminate flooring planks.

Buying luxury bedding without having any idea of what’s contained in luxury bedding sets can cost you to waste a lot of money. It doesn’t help that those who make luxury bed linens act like everyone knows exactly what they’re talking about when they toss these terms on a label. So, let’s get everyone on the same page. Here is a fast summary of the luxury bedding terms that you are most likely to find and be confused about when buying for the first time.

Luxury Bed Sheets

Every bed in a bag type set will come with bed sheets of some sort. Your average luxury bedding sets are no exception, and will generally include at least a fitted sheet. Beyond that, though, it will depend on the rest of the set. There may also be luxury bed sheets included, or there may be a duvet instead, which is intended to replace both the comforter and the sheets. Look carefully at the contents of any discount luxury bedding set that you’re considering. Leaving sheets out but adding a duvet is the norm, but leaving sheets out when there’s only a comforter will leave you spending more money on sheets.

Explaining The Duvet

The duvet, which is a commonly found luxury bed linen, is something that most people talk about as if it’s the most common thing in the world. The best, quick explanation of a duvet is that it’s supposed to be a luxury bedding version of a mixture of sheets and comforter both. This is an excellent reason that the difference between a seven piece and an eight piece really take some label looking to discern. Pay far more attention to the individual contents than the number of pieces. Duvets may take even less space, and weigh less than a comforter alone, so luxury bedding sets that include duvets are often quite a bit lighter and flatter than those with comforters. That, of course, excepting other extras.

Pillow Cases

Luxury bedding sets typically vary quite a bit where pillow covers are concerned. You’ll see different terms, too, such as pillow cases, or shams. Regardless of the name, they’re the same. Luxury bedding sets in general come with the number of regular pillow covers that are appropriate considering the size bed the luxury bed linens are intended for. There’s also a somewhat random selection of coverings that are for use with things like neck and throw pillows. You might be able to get a set that includes exactly what you need for whatever cushions you have, but it’s more likely you’ll end up buying some separately.

Extras

Luxury bedding ensembles, unlike their more ordinary bed in a bag cousins, will usually include a bed skirt that matches the rest of the set. If there is a duvet included, though, it may not. As the down is extremely hard to clean, duvets have to be covered, which means you’ll be purchasing a duvet cover anyway. Sometimes you can find a luxury bedding set that includes a duvet, duvet cover, and skirt as well, but that’s rare. However, it is becoming more common, especially in discount luxury bedding. The makers of more expensive products fancy themselves as specialist that only make luxurious bedding, and intend on you going elsewhere for a duvet cover and skirt that will match, and match your room.

I’m sure you’ve already noticed the many products that Quick Step Laminate Flooring sells if you have been doing some looking at laminate floors. Probably because the laminate floor is still fairly new, there really isn’t any specific company that dominates the industry. Quick Step Laminate Flooring’s most proud selling point is their enormous range of laminate floor products, including tile. Let’s check some major buying points and see if Quick Step Laminate Flooring is the best product for your needs.

Ease Of Installation

It doesn’t get any easier to install than Quick Step Laminate Flooring. As with many laminate wood floors, this would be a floating floor, meaning that it doesn’t connect to anything. This means you can sometimes install it over the existing floor, which can really help when you need a cheap, quick way to make the floor look nicer. If you plan to do it yourself, but you’ve never had the pleasure of installing your own floor before, Quick Step makes things about as easy as it gets.

What Is A Floating Floor?

There are a few things to keep in mind when installing a floating laminate wood floor. Be sure that the floor is never attached to anything solid. This is not a neat option, but an install requirement. Floating laminate floors expand and contract with temperature changes and, if attached to anything solid, can become ruined by warping and peaking. This includes wall moldings as well. Be sure that you leave the prescribed amount of space between the edge of your laminate flooring and the wall, to allow for expansion.

Quick Step Offerings

I wouldn’t be surprised if Quick Steps entire lineup of flooring, laminate included, has been updated by the time you’re reading this, considering how fast they typically move in keeping up with the competition. As of this writing, there are more than three options in each collection, and eleven collections of laminated flooring in Quick Step’s arsenal. Your choice in flooring will be mostly dependent on your preference in aesthetics, although there are some feature differences between collections.

Reputation, Warranty, and Price

Quick Step Laminate Flooring is not its own company, but rather the laminate arm of Mohawk Industries, who has made flooring for over 100 years. When pricing your floor, you’ll notice that it’s a bit more expensive, but then so is everything that comes with such a good reputation, not to mention the lifetime warranty and ridiculously easy install. If your plan is to pay someone to install the laminate floor, there are cheaper options that you may want to consider. However, if the plan is to install the floor yourself, then Quick Step Laminate Flooring would be an excellent choice.

What defines luxury? For everything, there is a different answer, and it’s not always clear cut. In fact, many times, luxury is different for different people. In a car, some people feel luxury is simply big, soft seats. Some people have to have a lot power at their disposal. Others want a lot of high tech gadgets. Many people feel that a luxury car is a combination of all these factors. So what is luxury bedding?

The Role Of The Duvet

The traditional stuffing for the duvet is down from the Eider Duck, called Eiderdown. The duvet was not invented with luxury in mind, but rather to keep warm using something nearby. Now that duvets can be found all over the world, those still made with Eiderdown definitely fall under the category of luxurious bedding. A duvet generally replaces comforters and blankets, and is then itself covered since the Eiderdown is difficult to clean.

How Luxury Bed Sheets Differ From The Norm

Every bed has sheets, but they’re not all luxury bed sheets. Although there aren’t many truly standard terms, you can find a lot of different methods of measuring quality, but only two seem to be used by everyone. They would be the origin of the material, and the thread count. Those two are by far the most advertised, but if you want to get the best deal on luxury bedding, you’ll need to do a lot of research on the individual items. Although advertising for luxury bed linens would have you believe otherwise, the softest and best may or may not come from Egypt, or have a ridiculously high thread count.

The Matelass?

This is not so much an item in itself as a type of luxury bed linen. The word itself means “padded” in French. When used with luxury bedding, you can expect a thick, hand quilted luxury bed linen that, ironically, contains no padding within the garment itself. Sometimes the quilting is used to create intricate designs, but not always. Although generally produced from 100% cotton, there are other materials that sometimes make their way into Matelass.

What Is A Coverlet?

The coverlet is usually decorative instead of functional, and sits on top of either a duvet or some other thick cover. Besides being found on the occasional luxury bed, coverlets are also sometimes used as throw blankets or picnic blankets. They’re usually thin, and aren’t terribly good at keeping one warm. Coverlets are certainly not new, and as duvets become more popular, duvet covers are taking the place of the coverlet in many luxury bedding ensembles. You can still find coverlets, though, and they’re available in all sorts of designs. They can generally be purchased by themselves, or with a luxury bedding set.

The only real similarities between engineered wood flooring and laminate wood flooring is those last two words in their titles. People still confuse them, though. We’ll take a look at both the similarities and differences between them to help you figure out which will work best for you. However, you will still have to be careful since a lot of people often call both the engineered and laminate floor the same thing, and it can be hard to tell which one they are talking about.

What Is Laminate Flooring?

There’s no solid wood at all in wood laminate flooring. It’s actually an extremely high def picture which is covered in rock hard resin, then laid on a wood-chip mixture. Although the end result looks quite realistic, the only wood involved is the composite base. Regardless, there are many people who truly cannot tell the difference unless they physically get down on hands and knees to look.

Defining Engineered Wood Flooring

Engineered wood flooring is actually wood, of a sort. It is definitely not to be confused with what is traditionally referred to as hard wood flooring. The top layer of engineered wood flooring is real wood. However, this top layer is very thin, and therefore cannot be sanded like a hard wood floor. Unfortunately, this means that deep scratches and scuffs often require replacement of planks, making engineered wood flooring a bit more fragile than true hardwood flooring.

Laminate Floors Are Better For Some People

Laminate floors will generally cost less than an engineered wood floor, mainly because there is no real, hard wood used. Be sure, though, that in areas where there will be high traffic, you consider the costs of replacing some planks. Yes, there are engineered wood floors that are designed for high traffic, but they are quite expensive and not always attainable, even if the end result would be money saved. Laminated floors are not as likely to get scratched or scuffed from the get go. If you have children, pets, or both, then engineered wood flooring may not be worth the trouble. Laminate flooring installation is also extremely easy, and maintenance is, too.

Engineered Floors Are Better For Others

An engineered wood floor gives a much more solid feel than a wood laminate floor. Many people complain about the hollow sound that often comes from laminate flooring. Unlike laminated floors, engineered wood floors can be sanded, if only a few times. This means that deep scratches that can’t be repaired can be sanded away. In conditions where an engineered wood floor is optimal, it will also last and look new for longer than a laminate floor.
